LITANIES TO OUR LADY FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER

December, though it is the month of the birth of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, it is also the month of the Immaculate Conception. It was fitting that the woman chosen to be the Mother of God, should not be in any way tainted by sin—not just in the life she would lead, but also stainless or spotless from the very first moment in which she would be conceived in her mother's womb. This preservation from sin is a magnificent God-given grace to His future Mother, Mary. This Immaculate Conception was pronounced to be a dogma of Faith in 1854, and Our Lady confirmed this dogma at her apparition in Lourdes, four years later, in 1858, when she told St. Bernadette that she was the Immaculate Conception.
