LITANIES TO OUR LADY FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER
November is both a sweet month and a sad month! Sweet because we celebrate the feast that seemed to start the so-called "Age of Mary" in 1830, with the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Grace, or Our Lady of the 'Miraculous Medal,' on November 27, to St. Catherine Labouré, at the convent of the Sisters of Charity on the Rue du Bac, in Paris, France. Great graces were promised by Our Lady to those who would wear the 'Miraculous Medal' around the neck! This is a great joy and consolation. However, the month is tinged with sadness at the thought of so many poor souls languishing in the flames and fires of Purgatory, in the hope that someone here on earth will alleviate their sufferings and, by their prayers and sacrifices, help those poor souls hasten their deliverance from the fires of Divine Justice. Our Lady is far more efficacious in helping those poor souls than we are, so let us turn to her and beg her intercession for those suffering souls.
